The History of Chicheley Hall

Chicheley Hall, located in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, is a majestic and historic Grade l listed mansion that serves as an awe-inspiring wedding venue. The stunning architectural masterpiece is steeped in centuries of history, dating back to its construction in the early 18th century. The Hall, which was originally built between 1719 and 1724 by Sir John Chester, has seen numerous noteworthy owners in the past and stood the test of time while holding onto its resplendent charm. Much of the House’s original architectural detailing, such as the stunning crystal chandeliers and marble mantelpieces, remain in excellent condition today, adding a sense of grandeur and opulence to any wedding celebration. In 1935, the mansion had a change of purpose when it was turned into a school for girls by the Dowager Marchioness of Londonderry. It later served as a billet for soldiers during the Second World War. In the 1970s, Chicheley Hall was bought by a scientific research organization called the Royal Society, who later turned it into the Kavli Royal Society International Centre for scholars. After further refurbishment, it was re-launched as a hotel and exclusive wedding venue in the early 21st century.
